Fire and Lane Shooting

Last night we filmed the fire shots once again, although we didn't film the lyrics burning as we still had those shots from last time. Some of the extra shots that we added was some shots of the main character singing whilst stood against a wall, we also filmed the whispering shot twice, near the fire and near the wall, again. We decided to film down a dark lane using car headlights to light up the main character. We done shots of her from the front walking forwards, as well as some of her walking forwards from behind. We also done some shots of her sat on a fence whilst driving past, and one of her where it looks as though she is about to be ran over. Another shot we filmed was of the main character brushing her hair in a mirror, which illustrates the lyrics. Over all we thought that this was very successful filming.

Fire Shooting Problems

In today's lesson we looked at the filming that we uploaded in yesterdays lesson and found that a lot of the clips from the fire scene that we had filmed aren't there, so we went to get the camera which we had used to film and found that our footage had been deleted, so we are now having to film the fire scene again, although we have decided to film more shots and use a few more different locations so that we have more footage to use, we will be filming this on Sunday night.

Screen Shot 3

This is a screenshot of the timeline used when we edit our video, and it shows the layers used, this screenshot is again when we used the green screen which has now been re-done.

Screen Shot 2

This is a screen shot of final cut whilst trying to again edit out the green, this was more successful although we re filmed this without the green screen and used the original background behind when we filmed which we thought looked better and more realistic.

Screen Shot 1

This is a screen shot of our video being edited, although this shot is from when we filmed with the green screen and we had to do this shot again as we had to try and key out the green which was unsuccessful.

Studio Filming

In Thursdays lesson we filmed in the studio again as our previous green screen filming didn't work so this time we filmed with our background already there instead of the green screen, and we also filmed with a black background instead of green screen, as when we filmed it with green screen previously and tried to use the black background we had difficulties as the green reflected in the guitar and it was impossible to edit out on final cut, now that we've filmed with a black background it is a lot better and we will be able to successfully edit it. Overall this filming was very successful.

Fire Filming

Last night we filmed the fire scene with different shots of the main character behind the fire, as well as another character whispering into the main characters ear, we filmed close ups as well as medium shots, and we also filmed some of the lyrics of the song being burned in the fire, which we thought was successful.

Shooting Problems

In today's lesson we edited some of our music video and discovered that our green screen filming was more unsuccessful than we thought, as when we edited we found that we couldn't edit out some of the green in the first shot that was around the main character, and also in the parts where the main character is playing guitar the green reflects in the guitar as it moves around so we cant edit it out, so we will now have to film the green screen shots again in a different way.

keeping up the date

At the moment our group has finished drawing the storyboard and are in the process of editing it. Whilst this has been going on we have also taken some footage so every member of our group could be busy and to reach the deadline date for our music video.

Vampire Weekend - Oxford comma Music Video Research

I think that this video also in a way illustrates the meaning of the song, because the song is talking about why does something as little and unimportant as an oxford comma really matter? The lack of editing used throughout the video and the fact that its just one long shot maybe represents lack of punctuation used, and this is because they are trying to convey through the song and the video that punctuation doesn't really matter. Another thing i think that they are trying to say through the song is why complicate things with grammar and such, which also implies why complicate a relationship with small things like that, which i think is why the video is simple to show that he is trying to say he wants everything to be simple. When he says "i haven't got the words for you" the people with the cameras and such go away which illustrates what he is saying. Another meaning of the song could translate as him asking why do people try to be perfect and all the same when everyone is fine being different anyways, this is portrayed when he says "i met the highest lama, his accent sounded fine to me" and also when he says "check your handbook, its no trick, take the chapstick, put it on your lips" and this is illustrated in the video when we see different people sat around and to him, they are all fine doing what they're doing. This idea of everyone wanting to be the same is illustrated again when he plays guitar walking past 4 men dressed exactly the same and playing the same guitar as him, and they even mimic what he is doing. When he sings "check your passport" he walks over to a table where there is an official looking man, who he hands his passport to, this illustrated the lyrics in a simple way which again conveys the meaning of the song. The fact that he is wearing a plain white suit also represents the meaning of the song to be simple and gives us the impression that he didn't want to complicate things.

Advert Analysis

The album advert i have chosen to do is Led Zepplins - Motherhip (or greatest hits). The images used in this advert is an image of a blimp hovering over a theater with spotlights on it. The colour scheme involved is black, white and red. this colour scheme has black and white in it, this makes the advert look old fashioned, like from the era from when then band formed and the red represents the bands new, remastered songs.

The poster has a strange font with some of the letter, only for the name of the band and album title as well. the band name is at the top of the poster in a white and the album title is on the side of the blimp in red. have the text on the side of the blimp could represent the bands status in popular music. the bands name is a bigger size than the album name, representing the band is bigger than the album. The poster has four symbols positioned at the bottom of the poster. the four symbols represent each member of the band.

Digipak Analysis

The digipak I have chosen is Oasis's, Stop the Clock album which is also there greatest hits. On the front cover of the digipak there are four images, the first image is at the top left and it is an image of the bands name, in the case Oasis, this image is of the bands logo, which is there name in a white font and a black background. This is helping the audience identify the digipaks content. Another image on the font cover is a wooden wardrobe, inside are toys and clothing such as Elvis figures, snow white and the seven dwarves ornaments, an Elvis jacket and other vintage objects. The designer was Sir Peter Blake, who also designed the Beatles cover for Sgt. Pepper and the Lonely Hearts Club Band. The third image on the front cover is of a door with a blue background, painted on it is CD 1 inside the digipak painted twice. The last image is of a wooden table with objects on top of it and beneath it. These objects are a similar style to the ones inside the wardrobe, which are old, worn out toys which are from the 1940's till 1960's. All of these images and objects create an age to the album, making the album feel and look like it’s not from this time, probably the reason the band named the album "stop the clocks".

inside, the digipak has four spaces, the first is a small book featuring images of the band in different years, song titles and the lyrics to the songs and a small history about the band. the second and third place in the digipak is the two main CD's featuring all the songs, on CD1 it is an old fashioned roulette wheel with a red ring around the outside. CD 2 is the same to CD 1, but has a blue ring around it. the fourth place is a DVD about the band and is titled "Big Brother". the CD has a image of the front cover but at a different angle.
